Neudörfler, printed in Bucharest by Josef Sandrovits & Co. It advertises music “for voice and piano,” but it also works like an early movie poster: image, drama, and marketing in one page.

Hidden History in the Details
The soldier is a dorobanț—a Romanian infantryman—blowing a bugle while holding the national tricolor. The word “Grivița” points to the famous 1877 battle of the Romanian War of Independence.

The “hora” in the title is a traditional Balkan circle dance: people join hands, step in unison, and slowly tighten the circle. Imagine that: a military victory turned into a communal dance, then turned again into printed art you could buy and perform at home.
