This album pairs John Harrison’s original soundtrack with a refreshed score remix, mixed at Jeree Studios and remixed at Planesong Studios. Don Garvin engineered and mixed the source recordings, while Michael Farrow remixed and Ford Thaxton produced the remix. Ghoulish Gary Pullin’s artwork and Romero’s notes complete it.

Creepshaw (2014, Waxwork Records — WWW 004) is Waxwork’s love letter to John Harrison’s music for Creepshow—a synth-drenched, comic-book-horror soundtrack that’s equal parts funhouse and graveyard. If you like your scary stories with a wink (and your basslines with a bite), this one belongs in your “play after dark” stack.
John Harrison wasn’t just “the composer.” He wore multiple hats in George A. Romero’s circle—musician, collaborator, and occasional on-screen presence in Romero projects. By the time Creepshow came back to life on vinyl, Harrison already had a signature: melodic synth themes, punchy stingers, and a knack for making low-budget textures feel huge. Horror fans also chase his work because it sits in that sweet spot between classic film scoring and DIY electronic craft—more mischievous than majestic, and proudly so.
Think of Creepshaw as a soundtrack that behaves like a horror comic. It flips quickly between moods: spooky lullaby, slapstick dread, full-on creature-feature panic. In a landscape where horror scores were going either orchestral or pure minimalism, Harrison’s approach lands in the middle: tuneful themes with grim, rubbery synth menace. Waxwork’s 2014 release (WWW 004) helped cement the label’s reputation for treating cult horror with museum-level care—right when deluxe soundtrack reissues were becoming a serious lane in vinyl culture.
This is a vinyl, Lp, remastered in ocean blue colour.
The artwork leans hard into EC Comics-style ghoulish color: slime-font title, lurid purples/greens, and a parade of monsters that mirrors the film’s anthology bite. The included interior art/liner layout (comic panels, production stills, and bold illustration) makes the whole package feel like you’re holding a lost issue of Creepshow—not just a record.
No lyrics here—unless you count the music “saying” RUN in synthesizer. Standouts include:
Creepshaw is playful, ominous, and ridiculously re-playable. Waxwork’s presentation turns Harrison’s score into a collector-grade artifact, but the real hook is the music: catchy themes, nasty textures, and horror timing you can hear.
